The Edo State Government has said that the middle aged man who was purported to have died on of the Ebola virus disease on Sunday in Ovia South West local government area of the state was not a victim of the disease.
It would be recalled that there was tension in Udo community, Ovia North East local government area of the state, when a man was reported to have slumped and died in the area.

Some residents of the community were said to have taken cover to avoid being infected, following the suspicion that the man was an Ebola victim.

Following the incident, officials of the state ministry of health visited the community in order to isolate the corpse and commence investigations to determine the actual cause of death.

However, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Louis Odion, the man died of “bleeding from peptic ulcer,” following relevant tests conducted with samples from his remains.

Odion said, “Specimens were taken from the body and taken to the Irrua Specialist Hospital.

“However, preliminary examinations revealed that the deceased died of bleeding from peptic ulcer.

“To be sure, further examinations are still ongoing at the Irrua Specialist Hospital.

“Members of the public have been enjoined to be vigilant and report any abnormality to health officials, even as they are enjoined to improve on their personal hygiene by washing their hands with water and soap regularly.”
