The
dreaded Boko Haram sect may have taken over one of the major routes leading
into troubled Borno state capital, Maiduguri , leaving travelers to travel in
circle and take about 12 hours for a journey of two hours.
Many of
them complained that this is tortuous and always leave them drained even as the
dangers of Boko Haram attack was not totally ruled out from the other route
which they have been compelled to take.
It was
gathered that many travelers on Maiduguri/Damboa/Biu highway were left to make
a forced U-turn as they were attacked at different spots on the 187 kilometres
road.
Some
residents of Mule, 15 kilometres from Maiduguri told journalists on Thursday
that they have seen many vehicles who had traveled on the road returned with
corpses.
It would
be recalled that an attack on Bulabulin Nganaram on Monday sent the whole of
Maiduguri panicking as residents thought the terrorist group was heading into
the town.
