The
Foreign Policy magazine has ranked Nigeria as 17th most fragile state in its
annual ranking of the world’s least stable countries, called the Fragile State
Index
The
ranking, based on 12 metrics, including the prevalence of refugees and
displaced persons, access to public services, legitimacy of state and human
rights, has placed Nigeria in 17th place.
It also noted that it was quite surprising that North Korea – “one of the most closed-off and oppressive countries on earth” – managed not to make the top 25.
