Police have arrested two suspects after they were caught on
camera attempting to kidnap four-year-old twins from a shopping centre.
Father Dale Ribbink posted CCTV footage on his Facebook page
which allegedly shows two
female suspects hanging round his wife, who has their
four-year-old twins in a trolley.
When the she turns her back one suspect takes hold of the
trolley and strolls out the door.
The mother chases and confronts the suspect, who walks away
with her accomplice.
Speaking to the Citizen, Mr Ribbink said the suspect had told
his wife she was just joking.
An earlier incident is shown later in the footage where one
of the women, accompanied by a man, seems to be attempting to distract the
mother in order to snatch one of her children.
Mr Ribbink added: “My wife was in shock and only realised
what had happened once they were gone. I am still in shock.
“The police have taken two suspects into custody. They were
at the local Fruit and Veg, and stole a woman’s cell phone. Hopefully they can
catch the other two.”
The clip of the incident at the Zambezi Junction Shopping
Centre in Pretoria, South Africa, has gone viral.
Public Servant News Network Johannesburg said
four suspects were believed to have fled the scene in a white VW Polo.
