Bauchi —— Mr Yakubu Attah, Assistant
Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday said that
Bauchi zone RS 12 recorded 86 deaths from 82 road crashes in the first quarter
of 2014.
Speaking to newsmen in Bauchi, he said that apart from those who lost their lives, 160 others were also injured during the period under review.
Attah, who is the Commander in
charge of Jos Zone, but sent to Bauchi on special assignment during the Easter
break, attributed most of the crashes to recklessness on the part of some
drivers.
He therefore called for an increase in the synergy between FRSC and other security agencies like the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

“The Easter period attracts heavy
traffic on highways and we are worried over the rate of deaths and injuries
caused by the road crashes.
“We are faced with challenges, especially from reckless drivers, who are not listening to our advices,” he said.
